TITA

AUSTRALIAN PLAYS TRANSFORM

September 2023

Written by Jordan Shea
Directed by Kenneth Moraleda

Tita, a solo show, follows the mononymous cab-driving Tita, as she ferries the last of her nieces and nephews to establish themselves in an ever-changing and complex Australia.

The work blends improvisation, audience participation and dramatic monologue as Tita ferries her final two relatives into modern Australian society. She begins to assist her nephew into a new profession, fighting against long determined expectations, and helps
her niece out of a tumultuous relationship.

As audience members become her family, and crucially assist us in populating Tita’s world, this new work will resonate with audience regardless of diaspora and context.
